Dubravka Bošnjak, the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met in Sarajevo with Alen Pilav, the director of the Clinical Centre of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS), and Tomaž Štupnik, the head of the Clinic for Thoracic Surgery at the Clinical Centre Ljubljana.

During the meeting, they emphasized their joint commitment to joining Eurotransplant to enhance transplant capabilities. Alen Pilav, the director of KCUS, expressed satisfaction that the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in cooperation with the relevant entity authorities, had finally reached consensus and sent a letter of intent for membership in Eurotransplant. The ongoing communication between the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Eurotransplant gives hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will join the organization in some capacity to enable patients from BiH to benefit from the opportunities the network provides.

Pilav briefed the minister on the activities and plans of the Clinical Centre, highlighting the transplantation program.

Tomaž Štupnik, the leader of the lung transplantation program at the Clinical Centre Ljubljana, expressed readiness to support the development of this program in BiH.

They also discussed the opportunities offered by the European Union's EU4Health program. This program, to which Bosnia and Herzegovina is joining, with a budget of 5.3 billion euros for the period from 2021 to 2027, provides significant financial support for improving healthcare systems, and the minister appealed for active participation in the program.

The meeting concluded that all forms of cooperation should be developed to enhance the healthcare system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and enable a greater number of successful organ transplantations.
