Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, attended the opening of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art, one of the oldest and most significant festivals, established in 1895. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, in the presence of Magdalena Landry, Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau in Venice.

This year, Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Biennale presents the project "Measure of the Sea" by Stjepan Skoko. Skoko's work explores interactions and relationships between humans and the sea, using maritime elements to reassess the boundaries and measures of our coexistence with the natural environment. Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Biennale is represented under the leadership of Marin Ivanović, this year's commissioner and curator of the pavilion, who is also the director of the Museum of Modern Art at the University of Mostar.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been institutionally participating in the Venice Biennale of Art since 2013, under the coordination of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the competent entity ministries for the field of culture. The organization of participation and ensuring continuity of representation is regulated by the Protocol on the Model of Representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art and the Venice Biennale of Architecture, signed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska.

The Venice Biennale will be open from 20 April and will run until 24 November 2024.
