FAQ

Does Bosnia and Herzegovina have signed border agreements with neighboring countries?

Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed a Border Agreement with Montenegro, which was ratified by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 12, 2016.

The Border Agreement with Croatia has not been ratified, but it is considered valid due to a clause stating that the agreement is temporarily applied from the date of signing (the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović, and the President of the Republic of Croatia, Franjo Tuđman, signed the Border Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia on July 30, 1999, in Sarajevo).

Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia began negotiations on delimitation on April 27, 2001, in Belgrade.

The border has been identified and marked on TK 25 maps (at a scale of 1:25,000). Although the factual situation was established on the ground and recorded on TK 25 maps, the Border Agreement was not signed due to differing approaches in resolving a few (minor) border issues.
