About unit

The Sector for Citizenship and Travel Documents performs the following tasks:

 

Preparation and execution of international multilateral and bilateral agreements (international conventions in the field of citizenship and travel documents, agreements on dual citizenship, etc.),

Activities related to the preparation and implementation of laws and subordinate acts in the field of citizenship and travel documents,

Conducting the review process of decisions on naturalization of foreign nationals naturalized between 6 April 1992, and 1 January  2006, and preparing appropriate resolutions and conclusions, as well as preparing responses to lawsuits, requests for judicial review, and responses to appeals.

Administrative and other professional tasks related to acquisition of citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, renunciation of citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, withdrawal of citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, verification of legality of registration in birth registers, determination and cancellation of identification numbers for foreigners, etc.

• Maintaining records on acquisition and cessation of citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the Law on Citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
• Issuance of official travel documents and visas,
• Issuance of service records and seaman’s books of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
• Supervision over the application of regulations within the Sector's competences,
• Collaboration with competent authorities of entities and the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina performing tasks relevant to citizenship and travel documents.
