The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, met with representatives of the United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH to discuss the continuation of cooperation in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceutical regulation, education, science, and the possible accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the international educational and scientific GLOBE Program.
The meeting was attended by Joseph Rozenshtein, Officer for Economy, Energy, Environment, Science, Technology and Health at the U.S. Embassy, Nedim Hamzić, Director of AmCham BiH, representatives of the AmCham Healthcare Committee, and representatives of the Healthcare Sector of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that the United States remains one of the most important friends and partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in areas that directly contribute to strengthening institutions, developing knowledge, modernizing the healthcare sector, and connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina with international programs and standards.
Rozenshtein highlighted the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina potentially joining the GLOBE Program, an initiative of NASA, the U.S. space agency, which connects students, teachers, and scientists around the world in collecting and analyzing environmental data with the goal of better understanding and protecting planet Earth.
Minister Bošnjak thanked the U.S. Embassy for its continuous support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that joining the GLOBE Program would open new opportunities for schools, teachers, and students in BiH, enable participation in international scientific and educational activities, and further strengthen young people’s interest in science, the environment, and new technologies.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina has a friend and an important partner in the United States. Cooperation with American institutions is of special value to us because it creates opportunities for strengthening knowledge, innovation, and international networking among our schools, institutions, and young people. The GLOBE Program is precisely such an opportunity — for students from Bosnia and Herzegovina to become part of a global network of knowledge, research, and responsible stewardship of the planet,” Minister Bošnjak stated.
The Minister also stressed the importance of cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH, particularly through initiatives that connect the public sector, the professional community, and the business sector. In this context, she recalled the “Healthcare as an Investment” conference, which promotes investment in the healthcare sector and opens space for discussions on modernizing healthcare systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting also considered the possibility of organizing a visit by a delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina to American scientific and healthcare institutions, which would represent an important step in exchanging experiences, strengthening regulatory capacities, and learning about international best practices in the fields of science and healthcare.
The participants expressed readiness to continue cooperation in areas of mutual interest, jointly assessing that the partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States is of special importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
