Štetni učinci vrućeg vremena na zdravlje u velikoj se mjeri mogu spriječiti dobrom javnozdravstvenom praksom, istodobno slijedeći savjete za zaštitu od COVID-19.
Globalno, 2020. godina bila je među 3 najtoplije u historiji, a Svjetska meteorološka organizacija (WMO) smatra da je 2011.-2020. bilo najtoplije desetljeće u historiji. Godišnja globalna prognoza temperature za 2021. godinu predviđa da će i ova godina ući u niz najtoplijih godina na Zemlji.
