Health Sector in Focus of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Preparations for the Regional Donor Conference on HBRN Risks

Representatives of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a working meeting with Mr. Samir Huseinbašić, the national contact point of Bosnia and Herzegovina for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (HBRN) initiatives and workshops, during which activities related to the preparations for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in the Regional Donor Conference for the mitigation of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (HBRN) risks were discussed.

The Donor Conference will be held from 8 to 12 June 2026 in Turin, Republic of Italy, within the framework of the EU CBRN CoE Initiative, and will be organized by the European Union and UNICRI. The Conference will bring together countries of South-Eastern and Eastern Europe (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Georgia, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine), including Bosnia and Herzegovina, and represents an important opportunity to strengthen national capacities through international donor support.

Representatives of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed at the meeting that the Ministry is assuming responsibilities for active participation and coordination of the entire process within its competences, including the initiation of activities, cooperation with competent institutions, and contribution to the development of project proposals that will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina before international donors.

It was emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in this Donor Conference has a pronounced institutional and state-level importance, as the projects to be presented relate to strengthening capacities in the health sector and other areas within the competence of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that through these projects Bosnia and Herzegovina presents itself as a responsible and reliable partner in international initiatives in the field of security and population protection.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that the competent health authorities have been informed, particularly bearing in mind the key role of the health sector in the prevention, mitigation and response to HBRN risks.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses full institutional support for the proposed projects and will, in the coming period, continue with the implementation of activities, coordination and communication with relevant domestic and international partners, with the aim of ensuring high-quality preparation and representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Regional Donor Conference.
