At the session of the Conference of Ministers responsible for health in Bosnia and Herzegovina, chaired by the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Dubravka Bošnjak, discussions were held regarding the strengthening of transplant medicine in our country. A decision was made to establish an operational team.
The operational team, consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, the health ministries of the Federation of BiH and the Republika Srpska, as well as the Department for Health and Other Services of the Brčko District of BiH, will aim to improve coordination and establish a more efficient transplant medicine system.
The focus will also be on strengthening international cooperation, especially with countries that are members of Eurotransplant, with the goal of including Bosnia and Herzegovina in this important European network.
The members of the Conference agreed that strengthening the transplant system requires joint and coordinated action from all relevant institutions in the country. The formation of the operational team represents the first step toward creating a sustainable and functional system that will contribute to the enhancement of transplant medicine in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the session, activities within the EU4Health program were also discussed. This strategic European Union instrument, worth €4.4 billion, represents a significant opportunity for beneficiary countries to strengthen their health systems, improve prevention, combat serious diseases, and better manage health crises.
The successful reimbursement of funds from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) was also highlighted, with additional funds returned to the budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The session was attended by Dr. Alen Šeranić, Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republika Srpska, Dr. Nediljko Rimac, Minister of Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Zoran Bulatović, Head of the Department for Health and Other Services of the Brčko District of BiH.
