On 18 February 2026, a meeting was held in Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina between representatives of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of Brčko District BiH, dedicated to the finalisation of the Youth Guarantee Implementation Plan in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting aimed to align final activities and define the next steps in the implementation process of the Youth Guarantee, as one of the key mechanisms for improving the employability and labour market position of young people.

During the meeting, the key elements of the document related to Brčko District BiH were harmonised in line with the comments provided by the European Commission. Measures were also specified to support the faster inclusion of young people in the labour market, education, training and upskilling programmes, within the timeframes foreseen by the Youth Guarantee Implementation Plan.

Representatives of Brčko District BiH expressed full readiness to actively participate in the implementation of the planned activities, emphasising the importance of a coordinated and partnership-based approach among all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for systematic collection of relevant data, mapping of existing youth support programmes, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the planned measures.

It was concluded that the text of the Implementation Plan will be finalised in the upcoming period, followed by the initiation of formal procedures for its adoption.

The implementation of the Youth Guarantee represents an important step forward in establishing a systematic and coordinated approach to tackling youth unemployment, strengthening young people’s competences, and improving their position in the labour market, in line with European practices and the strategic commitments of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
