Minister Bošnjak with IOM Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Arthur Erken and Head of the IOM office in BiH, Laura Lungarotti

The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, hosted the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Europe and Central Asia, Arthur Erken, and the Head of the IOM Office in BiH, Laura Lungarotti.
They exchanged views on the current situation and future steps in managing the migration crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the main topics was the enhanced cooperation between the Ministry of Civil Affairs and IOM, particularly in the areas of healthcare and social services for migrants.
Minister Bošnjak emphasized the progress made through coordinated efforts of state authorities, local governments, and IOM in establishing a solid framework for supporting and protecting migrants in BiH, as well as ensuring better access to healthcare, social, and educational services.
During the meeting, the Minister also reminded the delegation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding aimed at improving healthcare for migrants in temporary reception centres. The goal is to enhance access to basic services and protect vulnerable migrant groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Furthermore, Minister Bošnjak highlighted the importance of technical and financial support from the European Union in managing the migration crisis in the country. She emphasized the crucial role of IOM and other partners in implementing initiatives aimed at alleviating the crisis and providing better protection for migrants.
Minister Bošnjak thanked the IOM delegation for their continued support and cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina and reiterated the importance of continuing collaboration to contribute to the overall stabilization of the situation in both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
