Improving the status of 17 national minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the central topic of a meeting between the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, and members of the Council of National Minorities of BiH, Mujo Fafulić and Franjo Rover.

During the meeting, special attention was given to key aspects of preserving the identity of national minorities – education, culture, and respect for international documents guaranteeing their rights, while upholding the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A representative of the Council of National Minorities of BiH, Mujo Fafulić, pointed out specific challenges faced by minorities on the ground, particularly emphasizing the important role of organizations that bring together members of national minorities. He also highlighted the issue of minority representation in the political life of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although the field of national minorities primarily falls under the competence of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Minister Bošnjak emphasized that the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina seeks to be a partner in creating a better environment for all citizens.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina draws its strength from diversity, and national minorities represent an important part of its social, cultural, and historical identity. Through cooperation with the Council of National Minorities and other relevant stakeholders, we can further strengthen projects and activities that contribute to improving the position of minority communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Minister Bošnjak.
