05/30/2025
The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, visited the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Mostar, where she met with the Dean, Prof. Dr. Dražen Barbarić. During the meeting, they discussed the opportunities offered by EU programmes in which Bosnia and Herzegovina actively participates, as well as strengthening cooperation between the academic community and state institutions.
Minister Bošnjak emphasized the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration into the European research, educational, and cultural space through participation in key EU programmes. She reminded that since 2022, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a full member of Horizon Europe, the largest EU programme for research and innovation, with a budget of €95.5 billion for the period 2021–2027. Through this programme, our researchers and institutions have equal access to funding and projects. Within the Erasmus+ programme, students, teachers, and youth have the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge across Europe, and significant opportunities are also offered to researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina through the EU COST programme.
Dean Barbarić expressed gratitude for the visit and the Ministry’s support, highlighting the faculty’s readiness to participate in EU projects, especially in the fields of social and humanities sciences.
Minister Bošnjak pointed out that the Ministry of Civil Affairs is ready to provide support to academic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in accessing EU funds and will continue working on strengthening capacities and raising awareness about available programmes.
Also present at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were the Vice Dean for Teaching, Prof. Dr. Marko Odak, and the Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Dr. Jelena Jurčić.
