The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, met with Ariane Bauer, Regional Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for Europe and Central Asia, based in Geneva, and Jamila Milović-Halilović, incoming Head of the ICRC Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the meeting, the participants discussed opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry, the ICRC, and the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on humanitarian, health, and educational activities. The International Committee of the Red Cross remains present in the country through programs responding to crisis situations, natural disasters, and other humanitarian interventions, including activities in communities that are still affected by landmines. The Red Cross Society of BiH has a number of joint initiatives and projects with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.

These include, among other things, health education, first aid training, the organization and promotion of voluntary blood donation, as well as activities to raise awareness about landmines and unexploded ordnance.

It was also emphasized that the Red Cross, given the high level of public trust it enjoys and its presence in all parts of the country, can play an important role in the public promotion of organ donation, in educating the population, and in breaking down prejudices associated with this topic.

The meeting concluded with a confirmation of the shared commitment to further strengthening coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of ensuring a more effective response to humanitarian and health challenges.
