Glibić-Bošnjak: Joint Efforts to Secure Additional Funding for Students and Student Centres
09/26/2024
The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, visited the Student Centre of the University of Mostar today, where she met with the director of the institution, Anita Glibić. This marks the first time that the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina has visited the Student Centre of the University of Mostar, and Director Glibić took this opportunity to inform Minister Bošnjak about the operations of the Student Centre, its funding system, and all the services this institution offers to students.
"We are hosting a minister at the state level for the first time, allowing us to present our work at this level. The Student Centre of the University of Mostar, as a leader in our country, is constantly seeking new projects, and this was one of the topics we discussed with Minister Bošnjak. I believe that through enhanced communication and the exchange of information in the future, we will find it easier to apply for specific funding, especially those from the European Union. We are grateful to Minister Bošnjak for her willingness to assist us in the future so that we can achieve our goals more easily," said Director Glibić after the meeting.
Minister Bošnjak expressed her satisfaction with what she saw today at the Student Centre of the University of Mostar but also expressed regret that the Ministry of Civil Affairs does not have greater opportunities to support the work of such institutions.
"The Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH has a specific position because, due to its competencies, it cannot directly assist institutions like the Student Centre of the University of Mostar; we can only direct certain funds to these institutions through grants. Our desire is to help student centres as much as possible, and I hope that we will discuss this topic more at the state level in the future," stated Minister Bošnjak.
She added that the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH has access to numerous programs, especially those offered by the European Union, and that future efforts should focus on finding ways to secure funding for planned projects.
"As far as I understand, the leadership of the Student Centre of the University of Mostar is making significant efforts to secure the necessary funding for the operation of this institution, and in the future, we will attempt to create opportunities for students and this institution to apply for various programs supported by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, especially those programmes coming from the European Union. In this way, we will try to assist in the successful functioning of the Student Centre of the University of Mostar," concluded Minister Bošnjak in a media statement.
