The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, received a courtesy visit from the newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to our country, Aiki Toshihiro.

During the meeting, Minister Bošnjak thanked the Ambassador for Japan's long-standing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens in various areas, particularly in the field of demining, where Japan has significantly contributed to mine clearance operations in 34 cities.

On this occasion, Minister Bošnjak emphasized that one of the priorities of the Ministry of Civil Affairs is a mine-free country, and that further assistance in demining activities is important.

The support that the Government of Japan continues to provide to the healthcare system in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also highlighted, which includes over 200 medical institutions. This support is also carried out through donations of ambulances, as well as the equipping and renovation of health centres.

Minister Bošnjak expressed gratitude for all the assistance the Government of Japan, as one of the largest donors and investors, has provided to our country through numerous projects. As noted, this support amounts to more than 400 million euros.

The bilateral relations between the two countries were assessed as good and friendly, and Ambassador Toshihiro expressed confidence that the next year, marking 30 years of diplomatic relations, will be an opportunity to further strengthen the ties between Japan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
