As part of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2026, the exhibition “Domus Diasporica” by artist Mladen Bundalo has been opened at Palazzo Malipiero in Venice, continuing the longstanding participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art.

The exhibition “Domus Diasporica”, rooted in the artist’s personal experience, explores issues of identity, belonging, and life in the diaspora through an interdisciplinary approach. Using film, photography, drawing, and site-specific installations, the project forms a complex and multilayered artistic whole in which the concept of home is re-examined as a dynamic and evolving category of contemporary life.

In dialogue with this year’s Biennale theme “In Minor Keys”, which emphasizes subtle and multilayered interpretations of contemporaneity, the exhibition opens a space for reflection on individual and collective experiences within contemporary social and cultural processes.

The project was realized under the curatorial concept of Isidora Živković, while Sarita Vujković serves as Commissioner of the Pavilion of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organization and production are signed by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska, in cooperation with numerous collaborators and members of the artistic team. The opening of the Pavilion of Bosnia and Herzegovina was attended, on behalf of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by Assistant Minister Suvad Džafić.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in the Venice Biennale is realized with institutional support from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, further confirming the importance of this participation in the context of international cultural cooperation and cultural diplomacy.

A special segment of the project is the performative program, which further expands the exhibition narrative, as well as collaboration with international artists, positioning the Pavilion of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a space of dialogue, exchange, and contemporary artistic practice.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to provide support and work towards systemic solutions to ensure the country’s continued participation in the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art.

It is recalled that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has accepted the proposals of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, enabling Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate for the first time in the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2027.

In this process, close cooperation and support from the competent entity ministries is expected, with the aim of strengthening the international visibility and cultural representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
