The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, and the Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Dialogue of Montenegro, Damir Gutić, signed today the Agreement on Social Security between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
This bilateral agreement enables citizens of both states to exercise their rights to pension, disability, and health insurance more easily as well as maternity benefits and child allowances. Additionally, pensions and other benefits will not be reduced, suspended, or cancelled if the beneficiary lives in the other state that is a signatory to the Agreement.

“This Agreement provides security for our citizens and ensures equal rights regardless of where they live within the two countries,” emphasized Minister Bošnjak after the signing.
The administrative agreement, which was signed alongside the main document, ensures that the relevant authorities of BiH and Montenegro cooperate effectively, exchange information, and simplify procedures for the insured. This will expedite the processing of claims for pension payments, healthcare, and other social rights.

The new Agreement replaces the previous one between BiH and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 2004 and adapts the rights of the insured to modern standards.

By signing this Agreement, the long-standing cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro on issues important to the residents of both states is confirmed.
