A meeting was held in Sarajevo between the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, and representatives of the Esports Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ESBiH).

The delegation from the Esports Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina included Ante Šaravanja, the president of the Association, and Dario Marinović, the president of the ESBiH Assembly.

The discussion focused on improving cooperation between the Ministry and the Association, with an emphasis on recognizing this sports sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This is a relatively young sports association, registered in 2023 with the Registry of Legal and Physical Entities in the Field of Sports at the state level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.

It was established as a result of the growing popularity of esports worldwide. Esports, or electronic sports, have become a significant form of competition among video game players, attracting the attention of millions of viewers and players around the world.

The association was founded with the goal of being the central organization to promote the development of esports in BiH, ensure fair and competitive play, and support players and teams in their progress.

The VPG Balkan Super League has also been formed, consisting of the best teams from Slovenia, Croatia, BiH, Serbia, Macedonia, and Bulgaria. More than 800 players compete in this league.

There are also plans to form the ePremier League of BiH. Clubs will have a unique opportunity to reach new fans and build an e-brand in esports for a vast online audience.

Competitive gaming in popular video games is a large market from which local communities can also benefit.
